There are few bands in the world that can truly claim to have shaped the face of rock music. The Pixies are one of those bands, with their influence attested to by the likes of Kurt Cobain, Thom Yorke, Damon Albarn and even David Bowie. However, when quizzed about his growing legacy Black Francis quips, "Sure I've got an ego the size of the Grand Canyon but starting to think of yourself as a legend never did anyone any good."
Ah, to live in Perth. Is it something to do with the climate? The fresh Indian Ocean air? The fact that it's a whole country's width away from those hipster Eastern cities? Whatever it is, there's something right going on over there, because Perth continues to be the most musically vital city in Australia - think Jebediah, Eskimo Joe, The Sleepy Jackson, Gyroscope... and Birds Of Tokyo.
