Think on death for a moment: the claustrophobic, stifling depths of the tomb, the gradual disintegration of body and bone and the desperation, the irrepressible dread that engulfs the ponderer of his own mortality. Honestly, the term "death metal" seems something of a misnomer when one then takes into account the trend-ridden, self-parodying mess of overproduced, louder-than-thou and fast-as-fuck "brutality" which characterises the genre today.
