Pete Monaghan
Monners Maketh The Man
Griffins head Hotel
Until Sat 15 March

"Monners", no matter which way you emphasise it, will always come out as undoubtedly Australian because that's what we do; we truncate everything and everyone's names. Monners' style is light, bright and quietly exuberant as he immediately acquaints himself with his audience and, by allowing any friendly interaction to guide the direction of his act, he answers such exchanges with good heartedly retorts. He is indeed a very likable guy, and with the intermittent use of an acoustic guitar, which incorporates the occasional use of Dr Seuss inspired rap, songs of werewolf love affairs, and matter-of-factly stand up tales of European nude beaches and seagull cholesterol risks, all I could do was sit back and actually very much enjoy our time together.

Yes, life is one big happy hour for Monaghan and he's prepared to take full advantage of that and ensure that everyone generously gets their fill, right till the very end. That's when he cheerfully brings the show to a close with a song that he's yet to write... Monners!!! (that's a three exclamation point rating, folks).
