Metal News.
On Thurs 20 Oct, local band Lotosoma will be doing an all-ages gig at the Roma Mitchell TAFE on Light Square, with support from Priority Orange and others. The show will be filmed and recorded live, the resultant footage put on an upcoming Lotosoma EP or used to make a live film clip. Doors open at 6 PM, and entry is free. BYO drinks.
On Sat 29 Oct and Sun 30 Oct, NSW band Rather Be Dead will be
playing a couple of shows here. Saturday's 18+ show will be
held at the Lizard Lounge, and will also feature locals Murder
Hill, Blood Mason and Proprietor. Sunday's all-ages gig will
be held at the Crown & Anchor Hotel, and will also feature Murder
Hill, Mythica, Obsidian Aspect and Deafening Silence. Doors
open at 4 PM for this one. Murder Hill, will then "return the
favour" for the headlining act by doing a tour of NSW with them.
On Fri 4 Nov, Deafening Silence will be launching their debut CD at Earth with Diatribe, Tidal and Officer Down. On either Fri 4 Nov or Sat 5 Nov (the exact day has yet to be confirmed), fellow locals Blood Mason will be launching their debut CDEP at the Crown & Anchor Hotel. Final details will come when I get them.
A new website, www.OzMosh.com, has been set up to help promote
independent Australian metal. Say the site's creators, "All
scene news is welcome, so if you have a new album out, a gig
coming up, a tour being planned, a radio show shattering ears
in your area, or a new label looking for fresh meat, then contact
ozmosh@gmail.com with details."
Also on the subject of websites, locals Beyond Mortal Dreams would like to direct interested souls' attention to their new, updated website, http://beyondmortaldreams.com. Within the next month, the band hope to have samples and full-length songs from their forthcoming release, 'Burning Symphony Of Misery', up on the site.
They're playing at Fowler's Live on Wed 19 Oct (the date this
issue hits the streets) for their 'Killing With A Smile Tour',
but then Byron Bay's Parkway Drive will be hitting the road
again to support New York State's Every Time I Die on their
'Good Music For Bad People Australian Tour'. With a new release,
'Gutter Phenomenon' (out on Roadrunner Records), to their name,
Every Time I Die are a hardcore band with classic rock influences
that include Motorhead, Black Crowes and Thin Lizzy. They and
Parkway Drive will be doing a licensed all-ages show at Fowlers
Live on Fri 2 Dec.
