Online Only Frenzy™ #2!

A late entry!
We've just gotten two double passes to Xavier Rudd's show at Thebbie on Mon 31 Oct, thanks to CBAR publicity: a polite email to andrew@dbmagazine.com.au and you're going along!

Prize Frenzy™!

You do not want to be in the dB Magazine office in springtime: that's when Frenzor™'s hay fever gets dangerously, explosively intense, especially the one chemist that stocked enormous-fire-breathing-daemon-sized Telfast burned down in mysterious circumstances that we know better than to investigate further. In any case, be aware that this week's Prize Frenzy™ is coated in a thin but caustic layer of Frenzor™'s mucus and may well cause painful blistering when you collect your prize; on the other hand, just look at what you could win by calling 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 21 Oct!

1. In something of a coup our own Suzy Ramone speaks to none other than Mr Nick Cave in this issue: the subject of their discussion is the Cave-written film 'The Proposition', and EMI celebrate this exclusive interview with copies of the soundtrack by Mr Cave and Dirty Three/Bad Seed Warren Ellis, because they're just as impressed as we are.

2. Lauren Boxhall reckons that The Presets' CD 'Beams' is pretty damn rad, and we're inclined to agree - it's this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too' and that's why we have three copies thanks to Mad Dog Publicity.

3. Ann Marie Sosnowski speaks to Epicure about their gentle new masterpiece 'Main Street', of which we have three copies thanks to the sweet folks at Two Fish Out Of Water Publicity.

4. Matt Vesley gets the low down from punk stalwarts No Use For A Name about their imminent tour and Adelaide UniBar gig on Wed 2 Nov: and we have two double passes to that very gig, thanks to Blue Murder.

5. Or would you prefer some fine, scary Australian cinema? Sure you would, and Foster Workshop PR have passed over ten double passes to the special preview weekend screenings (Fri 28 Oct to Sun 30 Oct) for outback murder mystery 'Wolf Creek'.

6. Joshua Spier tells Lauren Boxhall all about his new CD 'Suspended Between Radiance And Darkness' and the launch thereof at Garage on Fri 21 Oct: and he's very kindly stumped up two double passes to said show, with both winners collecting a copy of the CD on the night!

7. James Brazel chats with Dismember in this issue's Metal section, and we have a double pass to their Fowler's Live show on Fri 28 Oct thanks to Bleed Records.

8. If you believe Wade Howland - and why on earth wouldn't you? - the Electric Six show at Fowler's Live on Thurs 27 Oct should be a corker: read his interview with Dick Valentine in this issue, then grab a double pass thanks to Feel Presents.

9. Steven Hocking speaks with Ben Corbett about his new disc as Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side: it's called 'The Sober Light Of Day', it's pretty damn ace and Spooky Records have slung us two copies.

10. Brett Allen-Bayes discusses the new Herbie Hancock disc 'Possibilities' with the jazz legend himself, and Warners have kindly slipped us three copies of said disc for your listening pleasure.

Online Only Frenzy™!

The Frenztron6000™ was reading the Dance News and thought that the Mampi Swift & MC IC3 show at Black Cat on Sat 29 Oct looked like a drum'n'bass-tastic sort of event, and was able to extract five double passes from promoter Dale Tiver by using the threat of sudden, firey death from orbit as leverage: first five people to email andrew@dbmagazine.com.au and politely ask for a double pass will be getting' their groove on!
