Peace Not War Volume 2
Independent
Given the world's current political situation it's easy to become disheartened and disillusioned. 'Peace Not War Volume Two - The Best Of Anti-War Music 2003-2004' brings home and reinforces a positive message to help restore faith in our failing system.
This double compilation album has something for everyone. Disc one
gets down and funky with tracks such as We Don't Stop by Michael
Franti and Spearhead, Starship Trooper by The Herd and the
very groovy WMD Day by Angel featuring The Rub. The lyrics
are inspirational and poignaint and sum up how a lot of us might be
feeling ("Politicians lying to me, people dying in captivity": Maya
Jupiter, What For; "and quite frankly I'm never hesitant to
say 'fuck the President'": Ducky Boy by Jurassic 5).
Disc two brings rockier tracks to light with tunes such as Animal
by Ani Difranco ("aggression begets aggression, it's a very simple
lesson") and Gratitude by Saritah ("inspire each other with
what we can do / to make this a better place to be / keep on going
till every brother and sister is free").
This has some great songs and an honest, no beating around the bush approach to telling it how it is. Adding this album to your collection with not only help solidify the message that we can no longer live like this but by purchasing it you will be helping to raise funds for peace groups. I can't think of a reason to NOT buy the album.
