Metal News.
Following their recent Adelaide show with Steel Affliction and Omnium Gatherum, Melbourne's Abrasion are set to mix their first full length album over the next couple of weeks. Once that's done, they're sending it to the US for mastering by Imperial Mastering (Skinlab, Vile, Deeds of Flesh) and it's looking like the album should be completed and pressed within the next few months.
Adelaide's Tidal have recently signed a recording
and distribution deal with Greasy Pop Records for their forthcoming
full length album. After a weekend of pre-production, recording
began in earnest last week at Backbeach studios with Superheist's
DW Norton at the helm, and they're back in town for an all-ages
show on Fri 26 March at Le Rox (Bridgeway Hotel) along with
Diatribe and Equal Minded.
On Fri 16 April The Loving Tongue return to the live scene for a show at the Crown and Anchor with Raven Black Night. Then the following Sat 25 April, they will play a rock/metal show at the Bridgeway. In other Loving Tongue news, the new CD is currently receiving positive reviews from German, Spanish and Dutch progressive mags, as well as various metal webzines. Raven Black Night have just finished mastering their new CD and are currently shopping it around, hoping for a mid-year release. The CD will comprise all the songs from the first two demos, plus three new songs, a guitar solo and a bass solo.
With former drummer Johno deciding to focus
all his energy to Omnium Gatherum, Of the Human Condition are
currently looking for a new skinsman. Interested drummers can

One of the hardest-working and longest-lasting hardcore bands in the world, New York City's Sick of it All return to Australia for the third time for a full national tour. The legendary hardcore outfit will play the Adelaide UniBar on Sat 10 April with Shot Point Blank and STR. Tickets are on sale now through VenueTix and CIB.
Enigma Bar's new metal/hardcore club will
be launched with a bang this Fri night. To celebrate the opening
night, Truth Corroded and new act Celebrity Minefield will perform
live, plus there will be album launches of God Forbid's 'Gone
Forever' and the Walls of Jericho newie. There will also be
metal, hardcore and noise DJs playing everything from Hatebreed
to Cradle Of Filth to Iron Maiden. Doors open at 9pm and entry
is $6. Also, look out in the coming months for more great local
and interstate acts and DJs at the War Room.
After a short hiatus, Full Frontal Lobotomy return to the live scene with a new line up. With Flex on drums and samples, Natas on guitar and vocals and Pig on bass and vocals, the new line-up brings a much harder-edged, industrial feel to the music. The band are already in the studio recording an as-yet-untitled full length album, with national management and label waiting in the wings for the finished product. See Full Frontal Lobotomy perform at the Prepare to Burn festival on Sun 18 April at Fowlers. Other confirmed acts for this all ages event include I Killed The Prom Queen, Day Of Contempt, Carpathian, Masseria, Shot Point Blank, Stronger Than Hate, Parkway Drive, Equal Minded, Wendy Icon and Through Closed Eyes. And speaking of Stronger Than Hate, ex-Dimmu
Borgir guitarist and current Infernal Method axeman Astennu
has joined the metalcore outfit as their second guitarist. Astennu's
bandmate from Infernal Method, Grahame Goode, is also currently
filling in on drums. Astennu joined Stronger Than Hate shortly
after producing their debut album, 'Between Day and Darkness',
which is currently available through Resist Records/MGM.
This week, experimental Norwegian black metal act Lunaris released their second album, entitled 'Cyclic'. The new album has more of a progressive edge than 2002's 'The Infinite' and features more intricate guitar and keyboard sounds. Legency bassist Steve Digiorgio (Testament, Death, Sadus) also makes a guest appearance on the track I.A.D.
Sydney extreme metallers The Amenta are just
finishing up the recording of their debut album 'Ocassus', under
the guidance of Lachlan Mitchell, keyboard player for legendary
black metal terrorists Nazxul. 'Ocassus' will contain 11 tracks
and has been described as combining "a wide variety of influences
from across the extreme music spectrum, drawing influence from
black and death metal as well as noise, industrial and electronic
music". A late May release is expected.
